About
My name is Jennifer. I grew up in a tiny town in northwestern Pennsylvania.
It’s a great place if you like camping, fishing, and big trucks with mud tires. But not so good if you like culture, exotic foods, and a mall that’s less than 35 minutes away.
I love it when I hear people say they are from a small town. I say: “No, you are not; trust me.”
My home town:
1. Population < 1000
2. Public school, K through 12 in one building
3. Graduated high school with 17 people (no, that’s not a typo)
4. Giving directions sounds something like this: “Go down the road about a mile, turn left at Johnson’s farm, turn right at the intersection after the lumber mill.”
Yep…that’s my town.
Grad school brought me to the “big city.” By big city, I mean the Southern New Jersey. And after I re-learned how to drive, stopped greeting everyone that crossed my path, and learned how to say Gloucester, I fit right in. I ended up with a job in center city Philadelphia and fell in love with the idea of being a “city girl.”
And that’s when I met hubby. We actually met online and both worked in Philadelphia. We decided to meet up on night for dinner and the rest is history. We met in January of ’07, engaged in August of ’07 and married in November ’07. I know what you are thinking, and no, I wasn’t pregnant.
Since then, I’ve changed jobs and now work in marketing for a healthcare system in Southern New Jersey. I love my job; I think I am one of the few people who actually ended up doing what they went to school for.
And now, after being in the working world for several years and going on three years of marriage, I still have no idea what I am doing. But I find that after a hard day at work or a bump in the road with hubby, it can all be erased with dinner at a nice restaurant and a glass of wine – just one of the reasons that this wife don’t cook.
